| Subject: Cardfight Vanguard Clan Rundown Tue Jan 07, 2014 4:43 pm | |
| With approval from Ultraviolet I am posting this rundown of clans from Cardfight Vanguard. First off, if there's anything you want to know about cards and such, there's a wiki for CFV: Click hereI'm going to break these clans down by nation: United SanctuaryThese clans have a yellow nation color on the card Angel Feather:- Spoiler:
The clan's focus in on manipulating the damage zone. Unlike Nova Grappler who unflip cards in the damage zone, this clan can switch out cards in the damage zone. This way you can exchange cards you don't need in your hand for cards that are more useful to you (some of those exchanges also have the side effect of unflipping damage by allowing you to switch a flipped card for a face-up one). Some units' abilities activate when a card is placed in the damage zone like the Pegasus Series, while others allow you to switch cards from the damage zone like Battle Cupid, Nociel. Some unit even have abilities such as superior call units from the damage zone (Circular Saw, Kiriel) and healing some of your damage. (Cosmo Healer, Ergodiel and Mobile Hospital, Feather Palace). Overall the clan's strategy is to use the damage zone in more ways than Counterblasts and seem to focus on defense. Genesis:- Spoiler:
Genesis focuses on massive soul charging in order to pay for massive soul blasts. Cards like Goddess of Good Luck, Fortuna, allow you to pitch a checked grade 1 or above card for a soul blast 3, and drive check again. Regalia of Omniscience, Minerva allows herself to stand again for counterblasting 1, soul blasting 3, and discarding 3. Overall this clan has an array of abilities that utilize massive souls.
Gold Paladin:- Spoiler:
This clan focus on superior calling from the top of the deck and getting full field as fast as possible and gaining effects and extra power if the user has a high number of rear-guards. Oracle Think Tank:- Spoiler:
I can't say anything besides: Hand Advantage. That's what this clan is designed to do and it's what it does best.
Royal Paladin:- Spoiler:
This is the only clan I have trouble describing, because, well... they do just about everything.
Shadow Paladin:- Spoiler:
Their playstyle revolves around retiring their own rearguards to use powerful Vanguard skills such Phantom Blaster Dragon's "Damned Charging Lance". In order to make up for the lost rearguards, they include units that generate advantage through superior calling and drawing such as Skull Witch, Nemain. They have superior calling units like Darkness Maiden, Macha and Tartu which can superior call a Grade 1 or below behind them.
Dragon EmpireThese clans have a red nation color on the card. Kagero: - Spoiler:
This clan focuses on retiring your opponents units and gain massive power boosts. Like Dauntless Dominate Dragon Reverse, which gains 3000 power every time a unit is retired by it's own effect. Murakumo:- Spoiler:
They make use of hit-and-run tactics such as superior calling from the deck/hand and returning to the deck/hand at the end of the turn. This allows players to conserve the cards in their hand, helping the deck develop a defensive playstyle. Cards like Covert Demonic Dragon, Mandala Lord and Fantasy Petal Storm, Shirayuki maximize the usage of hand cards to exercise a balance of attack while being able to guard effectively. Narukami:- Spoiler:
Advanced Kagero. See: Eradicators Nubatama:- Spoiler:
They are aesthetically designed around ninjas. The first four Nubatama cards, initially released in Booster Set 1: Descent of the King of Knights, were focused on discard effects and increasing their power if their owner has more cards in hand than his opponent. After this, no more Nubatama cards were released until Booster Set 13: Catastrophic Outbreak, where they were more focused on binding the opponent's cards in their hand and the field. Tachikaze:- Spoiler:
They are made mostly up of mechanical dinosaurs called Dinodragons as well as cavemen known as Savages. They focus on overpowering the opponent with incredibly high attack scores while retiring Rear-guards as costs for their effects. The clan features units that activate their skills such as returning to the hand and superior calling when retired, effectively turning any retirements into more attacks, more power, and more shields, allowing the clan to keep a highly aggressive game while keeping strong defenses. Dark ZoneThese clans have a purple nation color on the card. Dark Irregulars:- Spoiler:
Their theme is increasing the size of the soul and gaining advantage based on the number of cards in the soul. The cards in this clan are largely based on dark imagery of various mythologies, stories and include even 'mutants' who are shunned because of their otherwordly abilties. Pale Moon:- Spoiler:
The Pale Moon debuted in Booster Set 3: Demonic Lord Invasion. Many of its Units' skills involves manipulation of the soul, however, instead of focusing on the number of units in the soul, like the Dark Irregular clan, or using the soul to pay costs, like the Genesis clan, the Pale moon focuses on calling units from the soul or switching units with those in the soul. Spike Brothers:- Spoiler:
The units in this clan are themed around American football teams. They focus on returning units to the deck and calling other units from the deck to replace them, especially during the battle phase, gaining an advantage with high-powered attacks MagallanaciaThese clans have a blue nation color on the card. Aqua Force:- Spoiler:
they seem to be based around a form of naval (sea based) military. When first introduced, the clan had the ability to gain boosts and unlock skills based on the number of attacks during a turn, along with cards that help with multiple attacks, as seen in the Storm Riders series. The newer cards introduced in Booster Set 11: Seal Dragons Unleashed unlock skills according to the number of resting rearguards the user has instead. Bermuda Triangle:- Spoiler:
They center around returning their own rear-guards back to hand to call them again and reuse their effects. Bermuda Triangle was also the first clan given an extra booster set that was completely centered around them. Granblue:- Spoiler:
The clan is themed mainly around undead pirates as well as other undead creatures such as ghosts and zombies. They are primarily focused on manipulating the Drop Zone, mainly by replacing unwanted rearguards with better ones from the Drop Zone. They include cards that put specific units from the deck to the drop like Chappie the Ghostie, units that superior call themselves from the Drop Zone like Captain Nightmist, and units that can superior call rearguards from the Drop Zone such or even superior ride themselves from the Drop Zone. ZooThese clans have a green nation color on the card. Megacolony:- Spoiler:
It is a crime syndicate made entirely of sentient insects. Their skills revolve around making the opponent's attacks weaker in order to guard less, mainly by preventing your opponent's units from standing which prevents them to boost or attack, they also have a few skills that retire the opponent's Grade 1 rearguards to further reduce their boosting capacity. The Machining series focus on adding Machining units to the soul to gain power and superior call them later. Great Nature:- Spoiler:
This clan mainly provide a Power boost, normally +4000 Power, and sometimes +1 Critical to a rearguard in exchange for the unit being retired at the end of that turn. During the end phase of that turn, some units activate their abilities when they are retired from the (RC), like search for copies of itself from the deck, superior calling, draw more cards, or unflipping damage. Neo Nectar:- Spoiler:
Neo Nectar focuses on superior calling rearguards from the deck to have a full field and maintain hand advantage while keeping up a good offense. Star GateThese clans have a white nation color on the card. Nova Grappler:- Spoiler:
They focus on unflipping face down cards in your damage zone and standing your units, and also include a few draw effects.
Dimension Police:- Spoiler:
Their themes are based around superheroes and supervillains. The heroes of Dimension Police primarily revolve their skills around powering up their vanguards to unlock their skills and gain benefits in the form of acquiring more criticals or standing rear-guards on top of the power increase. The villains of Dimension Police, who made their debut in Blue Storm Armada, reduces their opponent's vanguard's Power, gaining benefits from having a weakened opponent and making it easier for their units to deal damage, especially the rear-guards. Link Joker:- Spoiler:
First debuted in Trial Deck 11: Star-Vader Invasion. This clan is used by multiple characters in Season 3 of the Cardfight!! Vanguard Anime and is the avatar of Void. The units in this clan feature black rings with red auras. Its a defensive clan focused on the ability to lock your opponent's rear-guards, making them unable to do anything or be replaced or moved until the end of the target player's next turn. Units gain bonuses and additional skills when units are locked.

- Nice guide Mau helped me choose a deck to try i think Murakumo maybe the playstyle i want i will also give Nova Grappler a try that's Kamui's deck right? I like the way it stands it's units for more attacks.
Murakumo's have gotten an upgrade in Set 14. Their breakride makes Shirayuki much better and also makes Hyakki Vouge Reverse phenominal. Nova Grapplers are the best in either the Beast Deity subclan or the Blau Archetype. Ethics Buster Reverse can hit 8 attacks in one turn with the breakride, while Extreme can attack multiple times with full columns when you use it in conjunction with Beast Deity, Max Beat, which allows the unit infront of it to stand when it's stood. Galaxy Blaukluger is a crossride of Stern Blaukluger and is able to stand itsself and the unit behind it whenever a unit with "Blau" in it's name hits the Vanguard. |
